CHICAGO (October 27, 2016) – Smithfield Properties is nearing completion of SoNu Digs, Chicago’s first ground-up micro-apartment building. SoNu has been constructed from the ground-up and is not a rehab of an existing building. It provides a fresh and unique alternative to expensive studio apartments in Lincoln Park. The Digs will be ready for occupancy in December 2016.

SoNu is located at 1515 N Fremont Street in the Lincoln Park / SoNo neighborhood. The Digs are a short walk from the area’s extensive transportation, shopping and hospitality options including  Whole Foods, Apple, Crate & Barrel, Starbuck’s, Steppenwolf and Royal George theaters and the Red and Brown line stops.

The apartments range in size from 336-square-feet to 438-square-feet. They all include a Clei Italian built-in sofa/bed, built-in wardrobes, desks and dressers, a full kitchen, in-unit washers and dryers, full-sized bathrooms, front door entry electronic hardware and fiber wired internet with modem. Common areas of the apartment building include furnished indoor and outdoor lounge areas with WI-FI and secure bike storage.  Pizzeria Bebu, the first venture of restauranteur Zach Smith, will occupy commercial space.

SoNu is final part of a planned SoNo complex built by Smithfield Properties which includes the SoNo East apartments and SoNo West Condominiums. SoNu can be considered the “Son of SoNo”.  It is being leased and managed by Calibrate Management.
