Chicago is constantly buzzing with new activities, city life and places to explore. As summer approaches, some of our favorite local spots are gearing up to make the season one to remember. Your SoNu Digs are located 10-minutes away from Lincoln Park and the North Avenue Beach and we’ve found some of the festivals going on this summer that you absolutely have to be a part of!

Lincoln Park:

Lincoln Park Wine Festival | May 20 & 21

If you’re looking to enjoy the Chicago weather in a refreshing way, the Lincoln Park Wine Festival is perfect for you. Lincoln Park’s northside pocket becomes an open-air market for you to enjoy while sipping and trying countless different wines and foods. Fantastic music will help you get in the right mood and vendors will be waiting for you to explore. We’ll cheers to that.

Craft Brews at the Zoo | June 16 & 17

Another way to get your drink on is happening the following month at the Lincoln Park Zoo. If wine isn’t your thing, but a cold one is, make sure you stop in at the Craft Brews at the Zoo festival. Sample the selection of 75+ specialty brews from both local and regional breweries while you meander through the beautiful zoo gardens. You can also grab snacks, enjoy the DJ’s track list and see the real stars: the animals! That’s what we call a beer flight.

Chicago Hot Dog Fest | August 11 – 13

Nothing pairs better than Chicago and hot dogs, right? The amazing celebration of one of our favorite foods benefits the Chicago History Museum where it’s being held right outside of. Stop by one of the city’s delicious hot dog vendors…or all of them and munch while you listen to great music all day long. We’ll take a dozen.

North Ave. Beach:

59th Annual Chicago Air and Water Show | August 19 & 20

Want to see military and civilian pilots do amazing tricks? Make sure you go to the 59th Annual Chicago Air and Water Show, hop on the North Avenue Bus #72 from your digs. The two-day festival will be filled with historic aircrafts, flight aerobatics, simulated water rescues and parachute teams. The best part? It’s free. That’s right, free. Geronimo!
