Spring has sprung and that can only mean one thing: Baseball is back. The Cub’s are still reveling after last year’s World Series Championship, and so are we. In just a few days they have their opener at home and we’re all kinds of ready. If baseball doesn’t happen to be your favorite pastime, however, you can head to Lincoln Park and visit the nation’s greatest free zoo or conservatory.

Wrigley Field: 1060 W Addison St, Chicago, IL 60613

The Cubs opener against the LA Dodgers is on April 10th. Wrigley Field is promising a day filled with opener activities starting at 10 AM and going all the way until 10 PM. Events include:

–  A banner raising ceremony celebrating their World Series win

–  The opening of their new Park at Wrigley plaza

–  And of course the great local eats and buzz that come with heading to a baseball game.

Guaranteed Rate Field:

The White Sox have their opener against the Detroit Tigers on April 3rd and they’re also set to have a full day for baseball lovers:

–  ChiSox Bar and Grill will open at 7 AM and remain open for at least two hours following each game

–  New food and drink options will be available this season at the ballpark such as Chico Kebab and South Side Mini Donuts.

How to get there:

From your SoNu Digs, all you have to do is head two blocks to the Red Line where you’ll have direct access to both parks.

For those hoping to get away from the baseball scene:

Lincoln Park Conservatory: 2391 N Stockton Dr, Chicago, IL 60614

Stroll through the conservatory and botanical garden to really welcome spring the right way. You can do things like see ancient ferns, marvel at a Victorian Era glass house and even see the Shakespeare Monument.

Lincoln Park Zoo: 2001 N Clark St, Chicago, IL 60614

Spend the day at the zoo and wander as you please through the exhibits, or go to some of their daily activities. For example, you can see cub training of a different kind at the Polar Bear Training at 1 PM and at 2 PM you can watch keepers train and feed the seals.

How to get there:

The North Ave bus, just minutes from your SoNu Digs, can take you to the park and you can decide where you’ll be venturing off to.

Happy Spring.
